Prime Minister’s Questions are run on a lottery system, with up to 300 MPs applying each week to have the opportunity to appear on the Order Paper of the House of Commons with a guarantee of asking the Prime Minister a question of their choice.
South Thanet’s MP Craig Mackinlay was among those selected on Wednesday 24th February, and took the opportunity of asking the following question “South Thanet lags behind much of the South East across many indices. I have launched a new body locally 'The Ramsgate Regeneration Alliance' bringing together business and community groups. Can I invite my RHF and the Coastal Communities Minister to this gem on our doorstep to see for themselves what it can and should be?”
The Prime Minister promised his support for the work of the Ramsgate Regeneration Alliance and pledged the immediate support of the Coastal Communites Minister.
Craig Mackinlay said “I am delighted to have been able to promote the work of the Ramsgate Regeneration Alliance on the floor of the House, and to receive assurances of support from the Prime Minister. During the election period, the Chancellor gave his backing for regeneration under a new round of Coastal Communities funding, I hope the Minister’s visit can be the start of the delivery of my plans for Ramsgate."
