Craig Mackinlay, the Member of Parliament for South Thanet, is urging all local residents to clean for the Queen. In the run up to Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday, there is a national effort to inspire a million people to take action and enjoy a few hours together litter-picking to enhance the quality and cleanliness of local communities across the country.
Working alongside local residents and organisations, Mr Mackinlay is hoping to organise clean up events in most towns and villages across South Thanet. This follows his very successful graffiti removal project, where he spent time in various parts of the constituency removing graffiti from signage, buildings and prominent street features.
Events will be organised to coincide with efforts right across the country on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March 2016. Whether you want to meet with a friend, do some litter picking and head for a coffee afterwards or want to be involved in organising an event in your own community, get in touch with Craig’s office to register your interest by calling 01843 603242 or emailing craig.mackinlay.mp@parliament.uk. Speaking about the initiative Craig Mackinlay said: I want as many people to be involved in cleaning up South Thanet as possible.
The Queen’s 90th Birthday is a great time to bring the country together to make our communities much cleaner for those who live, work and visit them. There is nothing worse than visiting a place where litter is everywhere and graffiti is prevalent. Thankfully South Thanet is, by and large, a clean place but we need to work together to keep it that way. I am working with a number of local people and organisations who do so much all year round for our communities and I would encourage everyone to get involved and play their part.
